Welcome to Ankeny Community Schools and Southeast Elementary School. I am privileged to have been the Southeast Elementary School Nurse since the fall of 1998. I love elementary students for their enthusiasm, curiosity and innocence. My goal is to remove health related barriers that keep a child from learning. I enjoy teaching them habits to stay healthy, how to take care of their bodies to recover quickly from everyday illnesses, and how to manage chronic illnesses and disabilities so that they can fully participate in school activities.

I graduated in 1983 from Iowa Methodist School of Nursing with my Diploma in Nursing. Before becoming a school nurse my nursing experience included being a hospital staff nurse, a review nurse for an insurance company and a home health care nurse.

My late husband Frank, and I have four children. All are Southeast Elementary alumni. The three oldest, Frank, Dennis and Julie are graduates of Ankeny High School and the youngest, Daniel is on track to graduate from Ankeny High School in 2012. When I am not at school I enjoy attending my children's activities, traveling, reading and church activities.
